TIME TO CLEAN UP THE SPAM FROM THE LINKS

SMC Commercial

Yes, it’s that time again. Time to look into your backlinks and do a cleanup. This doe shave to be done every so often. Lots of clutters and dirt can get built up in there. This dirt and debris living inside your backlinks often times leads to lower rankings.

How can you accomplish this?

  1. There is something called a backlink checker. This baby will definitely clean things up. It runs a thorough check on all your links, both yours and outside ones. Any spam-like links that are found will be cleared out.
  2.

This checker will give you a list of the good links and the bad ones. This is important. You don’t want to clear out the wrong stuff. Often times you will find you have spam links from new domains. These are domains that get very low traffic.

Some might not see the problem with this. There is a reason they have very little exposure and traffic. It’s because most of the time they are spam-related. It;s time to clean it all out.

  3. You can put in for a “link removal”. There is a right way and wrong way to handle this. The wrong way is to simply demand that they take your link down. This demand rarely works, especially if you are the one who put it up in the first place.
  4.

They look at it as, “You put it out there, how dare you demand it’s taken down”

You can either go and get a tool to help you do this. You can also get in touch with the site domain founder and ask them politely. If you have tons of other places you need to do this with, this might be a bit boring and drawn-out. However, it must be done. It’s your choice.

  5. You can move content. Some of you might consider doing this if most of your links are related to just one page. Simply shut down the page and move out. It’s that simple. If you have issues with doing this, you might want to ask someone who knows what they are doing.

A CLOSING THOUGHT

One final note I want to leave you with involves prevention. One sure-fire way to not have the spam, is not to put it there. Some users tend to unknowingly put the spam there in the first place. They then tend to blame someone else.

Research the difference between good and bad links. If you know something is bad, than stay away from it. You should only be relying on the good sources for backlinks anyway. This will save you a lot of time and effort, not to mention headaches.
